Close your eyes and travel to Bafoussam with a good crop of plantains!
Plantain is one of the most consumed foods in Cameroon. Big and small, everyone loves it!
La mater offers you a recipe made from plantains. You will enjoy ;)
Recipe of plantain pounded
Preparation: 45 min
500 g of red beans (black if applicable)
8 mature plantain fingers
250 ml of palm oil
Half an onion
Preparation + cooking
Dip the beans in a large volume of water and let stand for at least 4 hours (soak them the day before to save time). Rinse and cook over medium heat for 1h.
Cut the plantains into 2 (or 3 depending on the size of the plantain) and put in a saucepan without removing the skin. Boil for 45min.
Put the beans in a colander to drain them. Prepare to exercise;)
In a mortar, put the plantains peeled. With a pestle, crush everything until you get a kind of homely compote.
Put the oil in a pan and heat on low heat with the half onion cut beforehand.
Pour the beans into the mortar and pound. Pour the oil and onions. Put salt at your convenience.
Mix everything gently to avoid splashing palm oil (it's very messy :(
When the mixture is homogeneous, your plantain pie is ready to be served!
Tips: If your plantains are too ripe, add two unripe plantains to prevent your pest from being too sweet or sticky. Warm up in a pan for an even more pronounced taste ^ _ ^
